The Problem:
For the past decades, humans’ activities have been heavily damaging the coastal environments and threatening the lives of many species. How to increase awareness of our community and encourage them to take actions to protect the coastal environment.
Context
Partnering with universities around all of Australia and New Zealand Part of the Rip Curl Creative Jam, the 3 day competition challenges students imagine how we can creative a positive impact in our oceans and beaches and continue to surf.
Key Mechanics
AR Camera:
Ecoast’s primary feature is the Augmented Reality camera function which allows users to complete missions that aim to maintain the health and safety of their local environment and leave a positive impact as well as educate users on the local ecosystem. The AR feature also helps users to measure things like how much rubbish they take home as well as help identify local wildlife.
Explore and Get involved:
Users can explore beautiful landscapes to visit and volunteer spots or local councils to get involved. The app is a gamified experience that users can get points and rewards for their good actions and can be a part of the likeminded community.
